É a primeira vez que um filme obtém 13 nomeações para os Critics Choice Movie Awards: "Lincoln", é candidato aos principais prémios para a Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA), que representa mais de 270 críticos de média televisivos, online e radiofónicos dos EUA.
O filme de Spielberg (estreia em Portugal a 31 de Janeiro), um épico histórico sobre os últimos quatro meses de vida do 16.º Presidente dos EUA, que atravessou o período crítico do país que vai da guerra civil ao fim da escravatura.
O recorde anterior de nomeações para os Critics Choice Movie Awards pertencia a "O Cisne Negro", com 11 nomeações, em 2011. Os críticos norte-americanos também nomearam enormemente o musical "Les Miserables" (11 nomeações, entre as quais a de melhor realizador, para Tom Hooper, melhor actor, para Hugh Jackman, e de melhor actriz secundária, para Anne Hathaway)
Esta semana são conhecidas as nomeações da Guilda dos Actores norte-americanos e seguem-se as da Associação da Imprensa Estrangeira de Hollywood para os Globos de Ouro.
Os prémios da BFCA são entregues a 10 de Janeiro, na Califórnia.
